Tourism: Jazz festival boosts GDP  Comments

The Cape Town International Jazz Festival contributed R761 million to South Africa's gross domestic product (GDP) this year, up from R680m last year, according to a study by the Institute for Tourism and Leisure Studies at North West University and Tshwane University of Technology. Calvyn Gilfellan, the chief executive of the Western Cape tourism authority, Cape Town Routes Unlimited, said the festival had attracted 33 500 visitors, many from Gauteng, each of whom spent an average of four nights in Cape Town. - Audrey D'Angelo
